US Chamber of Commerce asks Trump to “return to negotiations” with China instead of pressure on US companies

Private US companies do not support further exacerbation of relations with China, which is increasingly supported by Donald Trump.

The largest non-profit lobbying organization in the United States, representing the interests of American corporations, called on the US president to «return to the negotiating table with China.»

Myron Brilliant, vice president of the US Chamber of Commerce, commented on a new aggravation of the trade conflict, saying that «constructive negotiations are the right step.»

According to him, the organization «does not want to see further deterioration in US-China relations.»

On Friday, President Trump made a statement on social media about the “order” for US companies to curtail production in China and return to the United States. The American stock market reacted to this statement with the collapse of quotations.

American business has previously criticized Trump’s statements. After threats by the US president, voiced by him on May 30, 2019, on the application of import duties on goods from Mexico against the backdrop of a migration crisis on the US-Mexican border, the US Chamber of Commerce called these intentions an “absolutely wrong step”, warning Trump that for fee increases «American families and companies will pay.» Soon after, the US administration announced a decision to “postpone indefinitely” the application of duties against Mexico.
